One [Story] Apart is an experimental curation and storytelling space created to engage with the thinking, materials, workflows and musings that urge artists to create – to close the distance between artists, potential collaborators and those who immerse in the stories they tell.
The title of this project lends itself to the idea that we are all one story apart from being moved by and through art and the minds of artists — curiosity, chaos, exceptionalism, and mundanity connect us in small and big ways; offering us a lens, articulating on our behalf, and validating eccentricities and ways of being we keep inside our minds.
Whether through photography, writing, sound, design, illustration or film; One [Story] Apart aims to share the layered and beautifully messy pathways behind storytelling. Rather than a rigid prescription of format, it is intended to be an intimate living archive where the intentions and acts of making are as – if not more – compelling than what is being made.
